starry.direct-img.link makes star history charts for GitHub repositories. We keep as little about you as we can.
What we store
- Your email address, to log you in, send password resets and tell you anything important about your account.
- Your password, never in readable form. Your browser scrambles it with Argon2 before it leaves your device, and we keep only a hash of that.
- The repos you add and when you added them.
- Your PayPal subscription ID, plan and status. Payments happen on PayPal; we never see your card or bank details.
- A login session, kept in a cookie for up to a year so you stay signed in. We store only a hashed copy of it.
What we use
Star counts come from GitHub’s public data about each repository. We don’t collect anything about the people who star a repo or view a chart. Charts are plain images served by Cloudflare, and we don’t add tracking to them.
Visitor stats
Our pages load GoatCounter, a privacy-focused analytics service that doesn’t use cookies. It records the page you visited, the page that linked you here and your screen width. It uses your IP address and browser to work out your country, browser and operating system and to count unique visitors, but doesn’t store the IP address or browser details themselves. Charts don’t load it, so viewing a chart in a README is never counted.
Who helps us
Cloudflare hosts the site, data and charts, and runs the human check on our forms. Resend delivers our emails. GoatCounter counts visits to our pages. PayPal handles payments. GitHub provides the star data. Each only gets what it needs for that job.
Deleting your data
Email [email protected] from your account’s address and we’ll delete your account and its data. Cancel any active subscription first so PayPal stops billing you.
